It's Happened

Someone asked me for directions today. And I knew! And I told them! And I was right!

So sorry its been ages since I've updated! Here's what you missed:
Recoleta Cemetary: home to over 6400 mausoleum style graves, one of only three of its kind in the world

Me and Eva Perón (could not figure out how to rotate this sorry)
Day trip to El Tigre: town on the delta about an hour outside of Buenos Aires
And in the meantime, I started my two internships! The first is at ICW Global (International Community of Women living with HIV. I'll be helping to redesign their web site and the Spanish and English versions of the web site. The other is with Artemisa Noticias, an online news source for women and minorities. I will be working on their project "Mujer y la Naturaleza" which is a blog about "ecofeminism". I get to design the web page and a Powerpoint presentation to introduce the site's launch. And in light of my new work "routine", I thought I'd summarize my first encounters with Latin work life:

The top five things you should know about working in Argentina:
1. The customary single kiss on the cheek used for greetings and goodbyes alike is still applicable even with your 50 something, grizzly boss.
2. BYOM- Bring your own mate. Everyone in the office drinks mate all day, but from their own paraphernalia, while coffee and water are provided.
3. Expect a Latin/lax attitude when working with dates and deadlines. "We'll let you know on Monday if you'll have to work on Monday..."
4. Buses are crazy and unpredictable. I know I've said a lot about the buses, but I swear they change every day. Leave an hour early. Value your precious monedas (change). Make sure to fully board the bus as quickly as possible to ensure that half of you won't be left on the street.
5. Wear flats, not heels. There is way way too much walking in the city and way way too many blisters on my feet.

I promise promise my posts will be more frequent from now on!
